Salford Red Devils

Based in Greater Manchester, Salford Red Devils are a professional rugby league club competing in the Super League, the sport’s highest division. Established in 1873, the team carries a long and respected history.

The Brief

Salford Red Devils undertook a digital overhaul as part of a wider website refresh. The project was driven by two key factors.

First, the club wanted to modernise its online presence, aligning the site with updated branding and the vision for its new community-owned structure.

Second, the timing coincided with the introduction of the rugby league’s new grading framework, the IMG Grade, set to take effect in the 2024/25 season – making redevelopment both timely and strategic.

The Design

Taking cues from leading football clubs such as Manchester City, Barcelona, and AC Milan, the goal was to bring a sense of sophistication and user-first design to the Salford Red Devils’ new website.

A major focus was mobile optimisation, with analytics showing that more than 80% of the fanbase accessed content on mobile devices.

By adopting a mobile-first strategy, the site’s layout, navigation, and content delivery were carefully structured to deliver a seamless experience on smaller screens.

The Results

Despite challenges along the way, the project was delivered on time to align with the IMG grading schedule.

The redesigned site provided Salford Red Devils with a vibrant digital presence that both resonated with fans and satisfied the requirements of the new grading system.

As a result, the club secured a strong B grade, reflecting the website’s quality, performance, and improved user experience.
